Don’t we all wish life could always be full of happiness and positive events? I consider myself to be a cheerful and positive person but recently, I’ve had a few events that tested my faith.

I can see how easy it is to give up when we encounter obstacles or bumps along the road. I can see how we can easily wonder where God is in the midst of all that’s happening. I realize how readily we can isolate ourselves from our community and seek to be alone (so we can cry a river).

As believers, I know that we will have trouble. I’m reminded of the Scripture from my favorite book in the Bible that reads “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything”. James 1:2-4

James did not say to consider it joy IF you face trials but WHENEVER you face trials. Go back and study that passage. When we go through tough times, our faith is being tested. It’s important that our faith is tested for that is how we grow and become mature Christians.
